2008 American Taikai with Grandmaster Tanemura
19/07/2008 — 20/07/2008
Marquette University’s Alumni Memorial Union
We are very happy and proud to announce the 2008 American Taikai with Tanemura Soke and also (as a special guest) his son, Kotaro Shihan, 8th Dan. – In addition to the amazing techniques that are normally shown at the Taikai, all of the students will learn ancient waza from the Gyokko Ryu Kosshijutsu (Tanemura-ha). Also as a special honor for all of their hard training, qualified Yudansha (black belts) in Genbukan Ninpo will have the rare opportunity to test for the Shoden Menkyo (first license) in Gyokko Ryu! – You certainly don’t want to miss this chance to train with two generations of traditional Kobudo masters.
Here are some basic details (they will be more to come soon):
When:
Black Belt Training July 17th and 18th (morning and evening)
Main Taikai July 19th and 20th (morning and evening)
Where:
All of the training except Thursday morning (TBA for July 17th) will take place at
Marquette University’s Alumni Memorial Union
1442 West Wisconsin Avenue, Milwaukee, Wisconsin, USA in the Grand Ballroom (2nd Floor)
How Much:
The cost and arrangements come directly from the Grandmaster.
Each day costs $100. Dojo-cho bringing 5 people can come for ˝ price. Dojo-cho bringing 10 people can come for free (only free for the amount of days those 10 people are coming). For those bringing more than 10 people more discounts apply, so please contact me personally with your numbers, and I can explain for your case.
Lodging:
Cheap – The University has dorm rooms available. At these prices per night (approx.):
Double Occupancy $56.00 ($28 per person)
Triple Occupancy $66.00 ($22 per person)
Quad Occupancy $72.00 ($18 per person)
Also, the University will have a food service, so if they want our guests can take advantage of low-cost, all-you-can-eat meals.
More Expensive – Many Milwaukee Hotels (especially Downtown near the University) will be booked solid that weekend. There are many other events and conventions in the summer. So, I have made arrangements with a few hotels, but space is very limited. Most rooms will cost about $149 Double Occupancy ($75) per night. If you and/or your group need a hotel, please contact me right away. – I will be setting up room blocks this week, but space will be going fast!
